26/11

My ‘city of dreams’ saw another nightmare
Of a 60 hours long brutal warfare
When terror stabbed it right in the heart
And trapped its people in a deathly snare

My life, here, was never so wrecked
Never had terror reigned so unchecked
now, here I m too afraid to stir
on the streets that are with terror decked

Yet, at the behest of time I run
Like a machine so achingly human
Accepting what has been thrust on me,
a heroism, out of compulsion.

How much more pain, how much more fear?
How long will I remain a silent sufferer?
Enough, now I am weary of
Being called a helpless Mumbaikar.

I have had enough, I want no more
My faith is bruised, the wounds are sore
For my city, now I will stand up
This time with a firm resolve and valor.

A thought provoking poem with intense pain and anger, the words and construction clearly reflects your emotions.

as you said,
we move on with our day to day life but out of compulsion, some call it as "spirit of mumbai". time has come to sit and analyze "how much one is really contributing to overcome this problem.one cannot expect policemen to come and guard each and every citizen.
you have to look what is happening around you and take charge.

the tragedy of violence is made even more unbearable by its glorification in the name of religion, community and country.

we live not only by our own thoughts formulated in isolation, but by ideas and phrases of others that resonate and move us.

those who live in public life should be careful while they utter a word.

Your poem lets us know exactly how you feel and we feel the same.It was very sad and the people who did this was heartless. My prayers to the families and people of Mumbai.

A beautiful poem, Ketki. You have used words gracefully to convey your feelings. One such example is "My faith is bruised, the wounds are sore". Best wishes.

I have my Deepest Condolences to those who are affected by the attacks...
...right poem at the right time we all need this...we just want to put this attack back in our memories and work together against it ... we must stop blaming and start walking as one team for one cause.
