My First Encounter with Economics

In our curriculum, we study a subject called Managerial economics. In a class of all future economists, I feel as alien as ‘Jadoo’ on Earth. Coming out of “Koi Mil Gaya” (you see, I am victimized by film-o-mania) the situation in our class was very much like “Taare Jameen Par”. It was the Mngrl Eco. Lecture and my position were no better than Ishaan. (No, I am not dyslexic!)

It is quite obvious that when a student who has studied physics chemistry and maths for the last two years, is told about Economic Experiments, one can only imagine putting a consumer in a test-tube, shake it and see if there is a colour change. So, in the Eco class when professor asked me to define Economics, all I knew was that it is some absurd sentence enclosed in quotations and a name written under. With such brilliant answer I was about to receive ‘Band mutthi pe paanch’ when our Amir Khan arrived. Yes a new professor has come to teach us.

So, Managerial Economic theories in my notes have finally stopped dancing. I don’t know about ‘Taare Jameen Par’, but with this affirmative change, I can definitely hope to bring some Taare down on my Managerial Economics Paper.

Food for thought:
(I don’t remember of having read this anywhere, so for now, I’ll take the liberty to call it my very own.)

“Economics is a logic of choice and decision-making”
