My Ambition

I was five, when began the confusion,
about my ambition, whenever asked someone.
Always, I had a ready answer,
but each time a different one.

An aeroplane, once, I got to see,
its hugeness won my fantasy
after that, nothing seemed better
a pilot now I wanted to be!

Thus it was my dream to fly,
to steal the stars, to touch the sky,
untill a shinning stethoscope,
in a hospital, once, caught my eye.

No more thoughts my mind 'd stir.
finally, I hexed out a career!
smart, sassy and intellegent,
I now wanted to be a doctor!

But with time, faded this idea,
career problem again seeked penacea,
medical books weighed far too much
for I had a study-o-phobia!

What is, afterall, my ambition?
once again there was a confusion.
with engineer, lawyer, the list went on
but I couldn't derrive a conclusion.

So I decided, once and for all,
when I grow up , wise and tall,
a human being, I'd be atleast,
if not anything else at all!

Be it a childish, innocent thought,
in a world, which is with evils fraught,
Being 'human' is more important to me,
than a doctor, pilot or an astronaut.

Very nice thought Ketki! Who thinks of being a good human being, while growing up?! :D

You show maturity in your thoughts. But please do remember, career should not be confused with growing up into a good human being.

As a kid, when I looked up at a starry night sky, I felt so sure that I'd grow up to be an Astrophysicists but then numbers always bored me.
When I was a teen, I wanted to be a pilot but I got myopic.
After my ICSE, I wanted to take up Arts and study for my Civil services. Dad said getting 94% in Science and giving it up would be foolishness. Mom wanted me to be a doctor. Bro wants me to be a consultant. I wanted to be an author.
Got my blook published last year.
I'm pursuing my MBA presently in Boston and post in my leisure to while away time.
Now, I want to be a communication consultant and publish another book in three years' time :D Sometimes, life figures out things for us,while we are searching the right path to take.

But yes, I agree"being human" is the most important thing to be. We forget it so often!
