Please wait……………. You are in Queue!

A child from its mother’s womb asked God one day,
About the world outside, the place where it’d stay.

Proudly, God began, ‘Ever drifting down the stream,
Life lingers in a golden gleam!”

(Lewis Carol’s lines God used in this case,
But who do you think gave them, to him in the first place?)

“And which is more,” God added with a grim,
“I place you in Mumbai, the land of many a dream!”

Eager as he was, out his way tried he,
Hard luck! Doc said, “You are in queue you see!”

Days passed and little Mumbaikar began to grow,
He began to walk, he began to talk, and he came to know,

How beautiful is Mumbai, the city of dreams,
“God was right!” he thought, “or so it seems!”

A merry-go-round caught his eye, the lights on it that glow!
Said sternly the keeper, “Child please stand in the row!”

“School time!” one day declared his Mom,
Here too, the queue was first admission norm!

For poor Mumbaikar college too was no different story,
There too, the long queue only added to the worry.

From local trains to cinema halls, queue manifested its cruelty,
By now the city of dreams shook him to reality.

Its inevitable the queue, its Mumbai honey,
Whether you seek happiness, or you want money!

Be it an ATM, or even a funfair,
Queue didn’t spare the poor guy anywhere!

With the wait in the queue, his hair went grey,
Tormented, as he was, all the way!

Frustrated and chagrined, to God again he went,
Queue had haunted him, to every extent.

“I want no more”, to God said he,
“Take back the life, you gave to me!”

Answered God in a voice so firm and true,
“Please wait son………।you are in queue!”

great thought ketki !!

everyone seems to be pissed of by one or d other queue,
but people who'd poem it way, are really very few..

it had the angst the queue might have caused, but that couldnt take away from it the characteristic humour thats in all your post's genes.

Ketki, this is a wonderful blog. You have such easy writing flair. Thanks for dropping by mine. well, the movie's definitely worth a dekko, for Di Caprio's superb performance, inspite of a cliche-ridden script.
